Jessica Alba’s ‘brutal’ post-baby weight loss tip: Corsets
Celebrity moms probably deserve much of the credit (blame?) for our current obsession with the post-baby bounce back. This phrase will likely soon make it into the Oxford English Dictionary, along with modern gems like “LOL” and “OMG,” and if it does, it may just include a picture of mom-of-two Jessica Alba.
The gorgeous star seemed to return back to her pre-baby weight in no time after the births of her daughters Honor and Haven, ditching her maternity wear for skinny jeans and barely-there bikinis. So, how did she do it? Well, her slim-down secret is now out!
“It was brutal; it’s not for everyone,” Jessica, 32, tells fashion site Net A Porter. “I wore a double corset day and night for three months. It was sweaty, but worth it.”
Thought to help contract the uterus and shrink the tummy, post-baby binding and corsets may seem like just another celebrity fad, but questions about the practice have been coming up among BabyCenter moms for years. “Worked for me TWICE!” wrote one mama. “I swear by putting the girdle on as soon as you get to your room…. When I left the hospital both times with my boys I wouldn’t say I had my ‘flat’ stomach back but the large pooch I walked in with was a lot smaller than other girls walking out….I totally recommend them!”
